![]() ![]() I feel like the extra mobs that spawn make it way too unpredictable, and for me often costed me many runs. That is because you are expecting certain enemies there, and an experienced Dead Cells player will be able to tell whether your build is able to compete with the threats in the next part of your run. An experienced player will be able to tell based on your weapon level/affixes/scroll amount whether you should or should not greed for Prison Depths, for example. As I mentioned in the previous section about choosing the biome you want to play in (at least that's what I keep in mind), you are prepared for certain enemies in that biome. Sometimes you want to take your time when clearing a level - new malaise simply doesn't allow that.Īddition of extra randomness to the game - as you get more malaise, more mobs spawn around you. ![]() Especially when you have a survival build, faster enemies and random enemy spawns favor builds that specialize in fast movement and quick executions. I prefer the no-hit type gameplay of the older Dead Cells - the new malaise promotes fast level clearing, and personally, I don't really like that. What I don't like about the malaise update:ġ. Makes sense with the lore - lorewise, it makes sense since really nothing was able to escape the grasp of the malaise on the island, I think it fits more than the previous version of the malaise. You are more careful and thoughtful when choosing which biome you want to enter - some biomes favor certain builds more than others the same is with the new malaise, you have to keep in mind that The Dilapidated Arboretum is a pretty big map for example, so you have to take into account whether your build fits the types of enemies that are in that biome, thus being a factor in how much malaise you get during the run. Game has become too difficult/not fit with the style of play I enjoyed the game with. Too much randomness with mob spawn, removed malaise control mutations makes certain mutations redundant/worse than other options. TL DR: New malaise made the game fresh for a while, overall changed the game/gameplay way too much, to the point where I find the game less fun to play. For context, I have 200 hours in Dead Cells, with over 750 runs on my main save. Since I myself don't like to read long posts, I will try to keep things as brief as possible but getting my points across at the same time. This will be a longer post, but I really want to share my thoughts and find out what you guys think about the malaise update after a few months of its release. ![]()
